Page Turner Profile: brittny

1. Why did you nominate The Host?

I nominated The Host because Stephenie Meyer is the author of the Twilight Saga and all four of those books were amazing, so I thought it would be interesting to see if her other book was just as good or better.

2. What is your favorite thing about reading?

My favorite thing about reading is when I picture the characters' actions in my mind. I like how its better then a movie, at least to me. You get to picture the characters in a different way then others and your interpretation of the whole book is never exactly the same as someone else

3. What is your favorite genre of books and why?

I do not have a specific genre of books that I favor. I read anything from nonfiction, fact based things (such as How-To's and Education books) to fictional romance stories, to science-fiction. I do not like to pin-point a certain genre because I like to keep an open mind.

4. What is your favorite book and why?

My favorite book would have to be Brave New World. The book is a science-fiction book. The book is about the future. The book is full of controversy. I had to read it for summer reading for 12th grade English. The beginning is a little slow and confusing, but once you get past all that, the book keeps you on the edge of your seat.

5. Who is your favorite author and why?

My favorite author is Nicholas Sparks. Why? Because every single one of his books have captivated me. They all draw me in and I end up staying up till 3 a.m. reading till my eyes just wont stay open anymore. His books are heartfelt and inspiring.

6. What is the most inspiring book you've read and why?

The most inspiring book I've read would have to be A Walk to Remember. (It’s my second favorite book) This book shows you that even though you may not have forever, make the best of the time you have. And this book also shows you that when you love someone, you never give up on them.

7. What draws you to purchase a book (i.e: summaries, reviews, suggestions)?

When I’m in Walmart or Books-a-Million, I search and search till I find something that draws me in. It isn't the cover of the book, It isn’t the summary either. It’s the first chapter of the book. I give myself enough time, when I go book shopping, to read at least half of the first chapter. If it draws me in, then I usually get it.

8. Where is your favorite place to read and why?

My favorite place to read is outside, on a breezy day. I like being outside when I read because, usually, no one bothers me. Outside, I can hear birds and wind rustling leaves. Inside I always hear people talking or a TV. I'd much rather read outside, where it’s bright and stress-free.

9. What is your favorite food to eat?

My favorite food is Mexican: tacos, quesadillas, nachos, etc. I love making it at home and I love going to Mexican restaurants.

10. Fun fact about brittny?

I am writing my own novel. Progress updates and such will be posted on my blog.

So on the mexican topic... do you like fast food mexican or mom and pop, hole in the wall mexican???

I live in Hawaii and so we have a few places that offer kind-of authentic Mexican food, but no real good places :( I got addicted to true Mexican food when I live in Oregon for 2 years.

And since Cinco de Mayo is tomorrow.. what are you doing for it???!!

I think that it's really cool that you are writing your own novel. It's one of my dreams to also have something I write to be published. Anyway I also like Nicolas Sparks his writing just pulls you until you finish the book, which sometimes for me isn't a good thing. I stay up until the sun comes up reading this books and other authors. Just wanted to say hi.

Girl you got a new follower on your blog :) I love that you are writing too. I think everyone should write if they have something they want to say!

I love mexican too and I agree that picturing the characters in my mind is a really fun thing to do while you are writing. I hate it when I find out about a book AFTER it's been made or cast as a movie b/c then all I can see are THOSE people lol

Nat, I hate it too. I cant stand when I read Twilight now because Kristen Stewart was not exacty how I pictured Bella. And I LOVE mom and pop Mexican. The true blue mexican food is so addicting. Americanized mexcian like Taco Bell is just okay... And Im glad you all think its cool that Im writing my own novel. I also believe that everyone should write, even if its jut in a diary or journal! Its so stress-relieving. And Im glad my nomination won this month. Im hoping to meet alot of new people on here and find some friends with similar interest. :)
