The Host: DQ #4

NOTE: I apologize for my absence. I have not been here because I have been packing and moving. I do apologize for those of you I left hanging. If you have finished the book, please feel free to answer the questions below regarding the remainder of the novel.

Please use the remaining portion of the novel to answer your thoughts on these questions.

  1. Ian tries to kill Wanderer. Do you think he would have done this had Jeb not showed up?
  2. Why do you think nobody told Jamie about Melanie?  Do you agree that it was for his protection?
  3. Jared is being a Class-A jerk when he eats in front of Wanderer and refuses her a pillow. Why do you think he is doing this to her?
  4. What do you think caused Ian to move from wanting to kill Wanderer to feeling bad for hurting her?
  5. Jamie is eager to hang out with Wanderer even after he learns her real identity. Why do you think that is?
  6. What do you think of the human name Wanda for Wanderer?
  7. Were you interested in the history of Wanda's adventures of the nine worlds?
  8. Why is Jamie confused when Wanda tells him people come to see her while she sleeps but they see  Jared/Doc/Jeb/whoever is guarding her and leave?
  9. Ian turns from the guy in the beginning to this guy that is really diggin' Wanda. S.M. said that when she wrote him she didn't see him as a big character and as she wrote, he made himself who we see (awesome, btw - happened to me as I wrote my first novel). What caused him to change?
  10. Why do you think Wanda/Wanderer finally got the courage to tell Jared off for calling her "it?"
  11. What did you think about the soccer game? Was it a good way to show life continued with some normalcy or did you find it extra info that wasn't needed in this 752,365 page novel?
  12. What do you think really happened to Jamie when he returns injured?
  13. What are your thoughts on the names of the medicines given to Wanderer when she goes to the hospital? Cute or ridiculously childish and simplistic?
  14. Were you surprised when Wanderer told everyone how to remove a soul?
  15. How strange is it that Kyle's behavior changes towards souls when Jodi/Sunny come into the caves?
  16. How did you feel after discovering Wanda didn't have to sacrifice herself b/c everyone liked her enough to find her a new host?
  17. What did you think of the description of Ian caring for the cryotank while they searched for the perfect body?
  18. How did you feel about the ending when the group goes out on a raid and discovers another group that has someone with them like Wanda?
  19. When the book ended did you like it? Did it feel complete? Was the story finished in your mind? According to S.M. this novel was made to be a stand-alone.
Sorry for the long questions post but I wanted to wrap it up quickly in time for the next book!

Thanks for reading!
xoxo
Nat
